Peafowl mutations

Determine whether your peafowl (Pavo spp.) carries or expresses the colour mutation of interest. This genetic test enables the identification of both carrier status and genotype, allowing for the early characterization of colour variants, even in young chicks before the phenotype becomes fully visible.

To perform the analysis, we require either growing feather samples (with intact calamus and tissue) or blood samples preserved in 96% ethanol. The test detects the presence or absence of the selected colour mutation, providing reliable information to support breeding decisions and genetic management programmes.
