Determine whether your lovebird (Agapornis spp.) carries or expresses the colour mutation of interest. This genetic test allows for the identification of both carrier status and individual genotype, enabling early detection of colour variants, even in chicks before the phenotype is fully expressed.
To perform the analysis, we require either growing feather samples (with intact calamus and associated tissue) or blood samples preserved in 96% ethanol. The test detects the presence or absence of the selected colour mutation, providing reliable results to support breeding decisions, genetic selection, and line management.
